Seemingly Hopeless...
Let's be honest, we live in a world that sometimes seems hopeless. We turn on the news or go on social media and all we see is stories of political conflict, murders in the streets, wars, terrorism, acts of violence, and more that cause us to stand here and wonder "what hope is there really? The Bible tells us in Matthew 24:6 that there will be " And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars..." Doesn't that sound much of what we see on the news, not just abroad but here at home too? Social injustices, conflict, and yet still no hope.
Again the Bible tells us that there is great hope, and that hope is found in a man by the name of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the only man to live a perfect life, yet despite that and His attempt to reform His people and turn them to God, they accused Him of blasphemy and treason and had Him murdered. In reality, Christ didn't die for His own sins, but took our place on the cross and died for us. You see, Jesus Christ is none other than the Son of God, who is God.

Hope in the Cross of Christ
The Bible states in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures." The Scriptures declare that Christ died for our sins, in our place, but the grave couldn't keep Him as He rose again on the third day have victory over death and sin. But why did he need to die for us in the first place?
Romans 3:23 states "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Because of our sin, we fell short of the glory of God. Failure to meet His perfect standard means failure to enter into heaven with Him. The first half of Romans 6:23 tells us "For the wages of sin is death" which means that our "wages" or "earnings" for our sin is in fact a punishment, which is death. Every man who does not believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior is destined for a place called hell. But the second half of that verse tells us that "the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." When we were lost in our sins, Christ gave us a gift of eternal life so that we might be saved.
This isn't a gift that can be earned. In fact the Bible tells us in Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us," meaning that even though we were unworthy and sinners, Christ died for us. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." I do not and cannot earn my gift of eternal life, that gift of salvation. But God through Christ Jesus paid the penalty of our sins and gave us that gift freely to receive so that we might be with Him in eternity some day.

Make Hope Yours
So how can I find this hope? How can I receive this gift? The Bible says in Romans 10:9-10, "that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. " So literally all I have to do is confess Christ and place my faith on Him, believing in Him.
Romans 10:13 further states "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." If we call on Christ to save us the Bible tells us He will do so. There is no work, no trick, nothing I have to do other than call on Christ for salvation. If I call on Him, believing in my heart, I will be forgive of my sins and saved.
If you have read this and would like to be saved, meaningfully pray the following: Dear God, I know I am a sinner, and I know I deserve to die and go to hell. I believe that Jesus is God, and that He died for my sins on the cross. I believe that He was buried and that He rose again three days later. Right now I ask Jesus to forgive me and save me from my sins. Thank you for saving me from my sins.
